From July 9 to 16, 2017, two original Tom Thomson paintings held in private collections will be on exhibit in Algonquin Park. Northern Lake likely painted at Molly's Island on Smoke Lake in 1912 represents one of Thomson’s early Algonquin Park works.

View from a Height, Algonquin Park was painted during fall 1916 the year Tom Thomson worked as a fire ranger following a Booth Lumber Company log drive on Algonquin Park's East Side. Thomson spent time at the Out-Side-In, a rustic ranger cabin, that still stands at the Achray Campground today. During 1916, Thomson painted some of his most famous works including The Jack Pine believed to be created just south of today's Achray Campground along The Jack Pine Trail.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to view these two original Tom Thomson works, Northern Lake and View from a Height, Algonquin Park, from July 9 to 16, 2017. Admission to the Algonquin Art Centre is free of charge, but a valid Park permit is required.
