SUMMARY:Rural Roots
DESCRIPTION:The Oxtongue Craft Cabin & Gallery is pleased to present Rural Roots\, a collection of 50 oil paintings by artist Janine Marson. \nMarson grew up on her family’s Timber Trail Resort along the banks of the Oxtongue River at the doorstep to Algonquin Park. “My roots are very strong and impact everything I do in both art and life\,” says Marson. \nAs a child Marson listened\, observed and allowed all of her senses to absorb the beauty around her. In the 1960s\, a chance encounter with Group of Seven artist A.J. Casson inspired Marson to become a painter. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Guelph and a diploma in Design Art from Georgian College. Marson teaches art at her Huntsville studio and the Haliburton School of Art & Design. The effects of colour and light are the driving forces in her artwork. \nThis collection includes many familiar locations such as Oxtongue River\, Algonquin and Arrowhead Provincial Parks\, Dwight Beach\, Ragged Falls and Big East River. “My art is a way of expressing my deep love of the land and all the beauty in it\,” Marson states. \nJanine believes the simple things in life help us feel a sense of connection and draw us closer together. Rural Roots is her celebration of those connections. \n\nRural Roots: Saturday\, June 29 – Sunday\, July 14;  \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, June 29\, 1-4pm \nSpecial thanks to Algonquin Outfitters\, North Art Supplies and Oxtongue Lake for Arts and Culture (OLAC) \nAbout Janine Marson  \nJanine Marson is a Huntsville-based artist. She also teaches private painting classes throughout the year. True to her roots\, Marson is a volunteer member of Oxtongue Lake for Arts and Culture (OLAC). Marson’s previous series\, Seeing Through Tom’s Eyes\, garnered national attention. This collection of 100 oil paintings depicts scenes painted by iconic Canadian artist Tom Thomson and commemorated the 100-year anniversary of his untimely death.  \nAbout Oxtongue Craft Cabin & Gallery \n2019 marks the 40th Anniversary of Oxtongue Craft Cabin & Gallery. Founded in 1979 by artists John and Geraldine McConnell\, the gallery is a beloved Muskoka destination for people from around the bend and around the globe. Currently owned by Karen Piovaty\, the 2019 Season boasts a calendar full of special events and exhibitions.

DESCRIPTION:The Town of Huntsville is excited to announce a free public event in River Mill Park\, on National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21\, 2019 — the longest day of the year — and the start of summer in Muskoka. \nWith funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage\, the Juno award-winning Digging Roots — Raven Kanatakta and ShoShona Kish and their band — will mix a wide range of musical styles from folk\, rock\, blues and even hip hop\, to create unique and powerful sounds. Digging Roots won the Canadian Aboriginal Award for best group in 2007\, and more recently\, ShoShona won the Spirit of Folk Award at the International Folk Music Awards. In April 2019\, ShoShona Kish became the first artist in Canada to receive the prestigious WOMEX Professional Excellence Award. Digging Roots continue to share their culture and their talent to the delight of audiences all around the globe. \nThe free concert is suitable for all ages\, and everyone is welcome. John Rice\, Zahgausgai/Mukwa\, 3rd Degree Midewiwin will act as the Master of Ceremonies. Wasauksing’s Little Spirit Singers led by Deina Bomberry will perform at 6:30 pm\, with Digging Roots on stage from 7 to 8 pm. DESCRIPTION:A SHOW LIKE NO OTHER! \nThe Muskoka Dance Academy does two annual Productions … “Recitals”. One is a Christmas Celebration Show and the other is a Year End Show Production. Both of these shows are a Fantastic way to showcase the development of our students and also the perfect opportunity for students to perform on a Large Stage for their Parents in a Big Theatre. Our performances are held at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville. These performances are age appropriate and appeal to all ages. \nBabes in Arms \nBABES IN ARMS are defined as children up to 6 months old. BABES IN ARMS will be issued a complimentary ticket. Patrons are required to purchase tickets for children older than 6 months.\nALL persons regardless of age must have a ticket to enter the auditorium. The Ontario Fire Code regulations state that everyone attending a performance must have an admission ticket and an assigned seat. The Ontario Fire Code states that a child sitting on someone’s lap is not considered to be in an assigned seat. This measure is taken to ensure the approved seating capacity of the auditorium is not exceeded and for the safety of all guests.

DESCRIPTION:MUSIC AT BAND ON THE RUN\n\n\nMusic is a HUGE part of the Band on the Run. Runners will be serenaded by live bands along the route and at the start/finish line. \nJoin us after the race for a family-friendly\, licensed all ages Celebration Party in River Mill Park from 12:00 – 6:00pm. \n\nWhat is this CELEBRATION PARTY all about?\nThis party takes place in downtown Huntsville\, in River Mill Park. Think relaxing on the grass with your friends\, on the beautiful Muskoka waterfront\, with a beautiful open air stage. \nThe afternoon includes performances by three live bands on the DEERHURST RESORT MAINSTAGE. Each one has been chosen with fun & celebration in mind. They’ll be singing songs you know and love singing along with. There’s plenty of room for dancing – and sitting back and relaxing while you enjoy the show. (Full details on Bands Here) \nFor anyone that has been to Nuit Blanche North – you can expect the same kind of magic. The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is the genius behind both of these events. There’s going to be Busker Performances by the Disco Darlings\, strolling performances\, interactive hoop zone\, vendors and more! \nThis event is fun for all ages.
