DESCRIPTION:The Huntsville ART CRAWL is a free self guided art tour in and around downtown Huntsville\, Muskoka. Throughout the month of June\, visitors will create their own free art crawl experience by touring local businesses\, galleries & studios which feature exhibits\, demos & interactive experiences by local artists. In 2021\, the event welcomed 1\,680 visitors\, and included 36 artists and 26 businesses\, and generated $10\,575 in sales.

DESCRIPTION:Artist Gerry Lantaigne will lead a group of local artists in the creation of 7 more canoe murals featuring the work of famous Canadian artists Tom Thomson and members of the Group of Seven. Artists will paint the canoes “en plein air” during a week-long event in Downtown Huntsville’s River Mill Park. Artists to be confirmed. Engage with the artists while you watch the beautiful paintings being created! \nOnce completed\, these canoes will be displayed in Downtown Huntsville as part of the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery Tour.

SUMMARY:National Indigenous Peoples Day
DESCRIPTION:Join the National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD) celebration in Huntsville with Indigenous music\, education\, storytelling\, food\, arts and crafts. This free celebration starts at 1:00pm in River Mill Park and will continue into the evening hours. \nNIPD is a special occasion to learn more about the cultural and linguistic diversity as well as the contributions of the First Nations\, Inuit and Métis peoples. Learning about Indigenous people\, places and experiences is a step forward each Canadian can take on the path to reconciliation. All are welcome to attend\, listen\, learn and celebrate! \nThe following schedule highlights some of the events at the NIPD celebration: \n1:00pm\nEnhance your knowledge with Indigenous storytelling\, presented by Tim McGregor\, from Birch Island located in the Northern Channel. This is an excellent education opportunity that is open to both schools and public. \n3:00pm\nVendor market starts at 3:00pm and will remain open for the duration of the event. These talented vendors will be selling their beadwork\, jewelry\, tapestries\, sculptures and so much more! \n5:00pm\nTim McGregor\, a traditional Anishinabenini dancer\, will hit the River Mill Park stage with regalia teachings accompanied by an Indigenous drummer. Showcasing the Northern Traditional style of dance\, the audience is in for a treat with his performance. \n6:00pm\nSection 53 is a local Duo with a sound that has been described as folk/rock band with Indigenous undertones. They will be bringing special local artists Aaron Kowalchuk (Inuit)\, Shawn Roper\, Rob Almond\, and James Currie to perform with them on National Indigenous Peoples Day. Their first release\, Beautiful Light\, is available on all music platforms. \n7:00pm\nOji-Cree singer songwriter and producer\, Aysanabee will take the stage. Aysanabee was first recognized performing for the Indigenous Music Awards emerging artist series in 2020.
