SUMMARY:Sass Jordan
DESCRIPTION:EVENT SOLD OUT!\nThis year Canada’s own Sass Jordan will be rocking the house for a Girlfriends concert to remember! A dynamic singer with a sultry\, prototypical blues-rock rasp\, Sass Jordan had a string of hit songs and platinum-selling albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Juno Award-winner was a critical darling for her gritty\, soul- and blues-infused rock ‘n’ roll — often drawing comparisons to Janis Joplin and Tina Turner. \nThis year celebrates 25th anniversary of Racine\, the album that yielded four Top 20 Canadian singles — “Make You a Believer\,” “I Want to Believe\,” “You Don’t Have to Remind Me\,” and “Goin’ Back Again” — and sold more than 100\,000 copies in Canada. Billboard magazine named her Female Rock Artist of the Year in 1992. In addition to her dynamic recording and live performances\, she has also appeared in the off-Broadway play Love\, Janis and was a judge on “Canadian Idol” (2003 – 08). She also shared the stage with the Rolling Stones and AC/DC during the SARS benefit concert in Toronto … and she’s now ready to rock Muskoka right here at Deerhurst Resort!

SUMMARY:Murray McLauchlan
DESCRIPTION:An Evening in Concert with… MURRAY McLAUCHLAN! \nMurray McLauchlan is one of Canada’s most highly regarded singer/songwriters\, and with good cause. Over a 40-year career\, he has released 18 albums and been awarded 11 Junos. His songs Farmer’s Song\, Down by the Henry Moore\, Whispering Rain and Sweeping the Spotlight Away are now considered Canadian standards. Murray is also a painter\, an author\, an actor\, a radio host; he’s been bestowed an Honourary Doctor of Laws and appointed to The Order of Canada. That’s quite a ride. Yet some may wonder where he’s been of late. Murray did tour in support of his 2012 critically acclaimed release Human Writes\, but then decided to take a break. Other interests prevailed and he restricted his touring to shows with Lunch At Allen’s\, the supergroup he co-founded\, whose members also include Ian Thomas\, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church.  \nBut now Murray is on the road in his own right once more. Here’s what he has to say: “As a songwriter I know that it’s not enough to sit in your kitchen and write. Your songs need to be heard. Music is a communicative art and if it isn’t brought in front of people there is no way to tell if that end has been met. I like to think of a concert tour as a kind of roving gallery to test your art and your ideas. I try to do my very best to make it worthwhile for folks to be there and to perhaps look at things in a new way when they leave.”

SUMMARY:Rock & Roll Black Tie Event
DESCRIPTION:On June 25th\, 2016 my father succumbed to cancer. It was an overwhelming time in my life\, I was at a loss and for lack of a better expression\, wanted to turn myself inside-out.  \nI decided to take all if the negative energy I was feeling and try to do something good with it. And trust me\, it was not out of strength or goodwill; it was out of necessity. With some very good friends at my side we came up with the idea of the “Rock and Roll Black Tie” and the musicians and the community at large jumped in to help.  \nBut the most amazing thing was the event itself\, to me it felt like a changing of the guard. I suppose as a man in the twilight of his youth I look around and see my peers have moved from jobs to careers\, houses are getting paid off\, kids are growing up. Our parents spoke to us of the importance of community and here we are coming together\, putting our best foot forward in the name of community.  \nIt was so amazing to me to see people making so many bids and rallying for a cause that…….well at least in my experience\, didn’t seem important until I needed it and helping us raise a grand total of $19\,628 for Hospice Huntsville.  \nWe are back to do it all over again on October 14th\, 2017!! I’ll see you then if not before. \n\nJamie Clarke\, Mike Shaver and Brent Ellerson.
