DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE ARTIST\nAnnabelle Chvostek is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter\, composer and producer whose musical achievements range from folk to jazz to indie pop. She has composed music for dance and film\, co-written songs with Bruce Cockburn\, and is a past member of The Wailin’ Jennys. \nHer latest album String Of Pearls brings together her Canadian singer-songwriter tradition and the nostalgia of her East European heritage with a long-standing connection to Uruguay. The songs were arranged and co-produced in Montevideo by long-time collaborator\, Fernando Rosa\, who gathered some of Uruguay’s stellar classical\, tango\, and jazz musicians to add to a contemporary sound that harkens back to the grittiness of 1930s tango\, vaudeville cabaret and swinging hot jazz. On the Canadian side\, long-standing bandmate Tony Spina is back on drums alongside members of Toronto’s vibrant Jazz Manouche community. Toronto producer David Travers-Smith works his magic in bringing together the Canadian and Uruguayan tracking to attain a uniquely diverse cross-cultural\, cross-temporal sonic montage. Whenever there is a need to make a show burst with excitement\, it is time to call Flávia. Best known for her expertise in Northeastern Brazilian styles such as forró and maracatù\, this collaboration with Canada’s leading choroensembles allows listeners to discover Flávia in a completely different repertoire. Flávia and Tio Chorinho will soon embark upon a full-length collaborative recording. \n\nTio Chorinho has become known for energetic live performances that appeal to audiences of all kinds. Listeners are consistently thrilled by the group’s unique repertoire\, their virtuosity and dynamics\, and by their easy-going charm on stage. The group features Carlinhos Cardozo (cavaquinho)\, Maninho Costa (percussion)\, Milos Popovic (accordion)\, Eric Stein (mandolin)\, and Andre Valerio (7-string guitar). \n\n\nChoro (pronounced SHOH-roh) is a primarily instrumental style originating in Rio de Janeiro in the late-19th century.Choro is the original Brazilian soul music\, combining popular and classical European styles with Afro-Brazilian influences. DESCRIPTION:Briar Summers and her band are excited to be returning home to share their latest original pop-rock stylings. \nFeaturing the talents of Muskoka musicians Jamie Bestwick (bass)\, Daniel Dennis (cello)\, J’aime Payne (guitar) and Logan Coey (drums)\, this special performance promises to be a very memorable one! \nBriar Summers’ critically acclaimed debut album\, FROM THE ASHES\, released in 2021\, was produced by three-time Grammy Award-winning producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel\, Tool\, Rush\, Crown Lands)\, and her subtle yet profound single\, “Stronger\,” has enjoyed airplay both locally and internationally. \nBriar Summers is no stranger to the Algonquin stage. You may remember her from such productions as Huntsville: A Choral History and Huntsville High School’s Rock of Ages and Newsies: The Musical. \nIn the spirit of giving back to the community\, proceeds from this event will benefit the Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
