SUMMARY:Banff Mountain Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:2021 Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival\n\n\nThe Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will be online this year! \nThe Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival\, one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world\, is doing things a bit differently this year. Due to COVID-19 concerns\, the Banff Centre has decided to offer a virtual festival and world tour. You’ll be able to sign up through Algonquin Outfitters to watch the 45th world tour online\, in the comfort of your own home! \nWithin the upcoming weeks\, you’ll be able to purchase links to different film packages and Algonquin Outfitters will be your virtual host. These high-quality films will offer provocative and exhilarating explorations of the mountain world\, from intriguing individuals and remote cultures to breath-taking landscapes and adrenaline-pumping action sports. For $15 USD\, you’ll be able to choose from different program packages and will have three days to watch a selection of films that will total over 2.5 hours of viewing. You’ll also be able to sign up for more than one package of the Banff Centre’s curated collection of mountain and adventure films but details are pending. You can have your own private film festival! (Popcorn is optional.) \nAlgonquin Outfitters will supply links when more information has been finalized. By signing up online through AO\, you’ll be supporting the local outdoor adventure community while enjoying the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at home this winter. If possible\, AO may also host a live version of the world tour on the Algonquin Theatre’s big screen at a later point in 2021. \nWATCH THE MOVIES HERE

SUMMARY:Sleigh Ride to See Santa
DESCRIPTION:Your adventure begins when you and just your own family climb aboard the red sleigh\, pulled by one of the horses\, for a very short sleigh ride to Santa’s North Pole Stables! \nAs your sleigh pulls up\, Santa himself will come out to greet you. This is your chance to visit with him\, from your sleigh\, outdoors and socially distanced. During your visit\, Santa’s helper will take your a family photo with Santa\, on your own camera or phone\, hand out candy canes and give you a picture of one of our horses. \nYour visit ends as you wave goodbye to Santa and the red sleigh takes you back to your car. Don’t be surprised if this is the best Santa visit ever! \nThe private sleigh ride and visit with Santa lasts a total of 15 minutes\, for each individual family. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Up to 6 people are included in the rate of $55 plus HST. Additional children\, young enough to sit on an adult’s lap\, are no extra charge. \nPlease arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to fill out the required paperwork and to ensure you do not miss your visit. This is a snow or shine event so refunds are not available. In the unlikely event\, it is raining at the time of your visit\, we will not be able to operate but will make every attempt to reschedule. If there is not enough snow on your scheduled date we will still run the sleigh ride with the wheels on. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bard
DESCRIPTION:When William (Bill) Colgate was a boy\, his father had a record album entitled “Opera for People Who Hate Opera”.  A collection of arias and overtures which\, by their very recognizability\, was designed to ease the reluctant listener into some appreciation of the operatic form.   \n“Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is\, to a certain degree\, in the tradition of that long-ago album.  Designed not so much for the “haters” or the “lovers” as for those on the fence.  “Yeah\, I get that he’s a genius but what in blazes is he going on about?!”   \nIt is a small selection of speeches\, scenes\, and characters\, connected by Bill’s own narrative\, that he hopes will offer some access to those who may find Shakespeare inaccessible or\, God forbid\, boring.   \nAs Bill says: “We may not understand every word but we still get the gist.  And a gist of Shakespeare can be more enlightening than many another playwrights’ crystal clear.” \nOur presentation of “Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is a world premiere. In its present form it runs approximately one hour. A length Bill hopes to expand upon.  \nDirector: Joan Bendon \nPerformer: William (Bill) Colgate \n\nOUTDOOR STAGE READING PERFORMANCE NOTE: No performance if it rains! Limited to 40 people in attendance. MUST bring your own CHAIR. Feel free to bring appetizers & beverage for your own consumption. \n\nALL SHOWS ARE BY DONATION (Suggested $20) – NOTE only 40 people can attend per show! Reservations STRONGLY ADVISED.
