DESCRIPTION:When William (Bill) Colgate was a boy\, his father had a record album entitled “Opera for People Who Hate Opera”.  A collection of arias and overtures which\, by their very recognizability\, was designed to ease the reluctant listener into some appreciation of the operatic form.   \n“Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is\, to a certain degree\, in the tradition of that long-ago album.  Designed not so much for the “haters” or the “lovers” as for those on the fence.  “Yeah\, I get that he’s a genius but what in blazes is he going on about?!”   \nIt is a small selection of speeches\, scenes\, and characters\, connected by Bill’s own narrative\, that he hopes will offer some access to those who may find Shakespeare inaccessible or\, God forbid\, boring.   \nAs Bill says: “We may not understand every word but we still get the gist.  And a gist of Shakespeare can be more enlightening than many another playwrights’ crystal clear.” \nOur presentation of “Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is a world premiere. In its present form it runs approximately one hour. SUMMARY:Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bard
DESCRIPTION:When William (Bill) Colgate was a boy\, his father had a record album entitled “Opera for People Who Hate Opera”.  A collection of arias and overtures which\, by their very recognizability\, was designed to ease the reluctant listener into some appreciation of the operatic form.   \n“Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is\, to a certain degree\, in the tradition of that long-ago album.  Designed not so much for the “haters” or the “lovers” as for those on the fence.  “Yeah\, I get that he’s a genius but what in blazes is he going on about?!”   \nIt is a small selection of speeches\, scenes\, and characters\, connected by Bill’s own narrative\, that he hopes will offer some access to those who may find Shakespeare inaccessible or\, God forbid\, boring.   \nAs Bill says: “We may not understand every word but we still get the gist.  And a gist of Shakespeare can be more enlightening than many another playwrights’ crystal clear.” \nOur presentation of “Shakespeare: A Most Rare Vision” is a world premiere. In its present form it runs approximately one hour. Led by local local musician Sean Cotton and his band of top top local players\, the show features all the hits including Courage\, Little Bones\, Bobcaygeon\, Wheat Kings and more. \nThe show will be presented like a classic drive-in experience. You park your car and tune in through your radio. Tickets include 1 vehicle with up to 2 occupants (1 driver + 1 passenger) . Additional passengers tickets can be purchased at check out (maximum 4 additional passengers per vehicle). \n\nThis concert will follow the guidance and regulations set out by the Province of Ontario’s Stage 2 Reopening Framework. As such\, the following rules will be in place. \n\nCars will be parked with at least 2 meters of space between for social distancing.\nOnly members of the same household or extended bubble may occupy the same motor vehicle.\nYou must stay in your vehicle at all times except to use the washroom. SUMMARY:An Homage to Jane Wagner's "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life"
DESCRIPTION:Emmy Award-winning playwright Jane Wagner’s brilliant social satire rocked Broadway in 1985 and still rings true today.  In this homage to The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe snippets and teasers from the full length productions will be performed (with its array of colourful characters) as a stage reading by Muskoka’s Queen of Comedy\, ROBIN CLIPSHAM. The play is “a work of genius and compassion\,” in the words of Gloria Steinem\, and a play that the New York Times called “stunningly ambitious.” Its penetrating insights into class struggles\, social inequalities\, and gender politics have given the drama an enduring\, wise\, and powerful relevance in America and around the world. \n\nOUTDOOR STAGE READING PERFORMANCE NOTE: No performance if it rains!
