DESCRIPTION:Conductor Neil Barlow and the Muskoka Concert Band are joined by esteemed soloists and musicians to recreate the music of the Anglo-Canadian Leather Company Band. In the early 1900’s this ensemble was created by industrialist C.O. Shaw and led by esteemed cornetist Herbert L. Clarke. Comprised of workers from the local Huntsville tannery mill\, the band was featured at the CNE for ten years and was described as one of the ‘finest industrial plant bands in the country.’

DESCRIPTION:Julian Fauth is a singer and piano player whose style is based on the tradition of pre-war barrelhouse blues and boogie woogie\, with infusions of gospel and jazz. He writes his own songs in addition to re-interpreting traditional material. \nHe plays regularly in Toronto and has played across Canada\, in the USA\, Western Europe\, Russia and Cuba. \nHe has recorded three CDs for Electro-Fi Records. His first was nominated for\, and his second won\, the Juno Award. He has also received a Maple Blues Award and was nominated for several others. DESCRIPTION:For one night only\, the streets will come alive with an exciting program of free contemporary artistic activities\, events and exhibits taking place in unconventional places in and around Huntsville’s downtown core! \nNuit Blanche North is a free late-night art event where cutting-edge artists light up downtown Huntsville with radical art exhibits and eccentric performances. \nInspired by the Nuit Blanche event started in Paris France in 2002\, we invite visitors to stay up late and experience truly unique works of art in public spaces.  The fun begins at sunset and continues into the wee hours of the morning.  Visitors can wander through the streets of Huntsville to discover surprising works of art in unexpected places. From street theatre\, to music\, to sculpture\, to film\, and interactive exhibits\, there is something for everyone\, and many ways to join in the fun.  Come explore\, discover\, debate\, create and participate.  No experience necessary\, just a desire to stay up late and play! \nNuit Blanche North is presented in partnership by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts and Edge of the Woods Theatre.  The goal of the event is to present fun\, engaging and accessible works of art\, and to support the local economy by bringing visitors downtown\, and providing opportunities for local artists to create and present their work.

DESCRIPTION:Carlos has toured Canada regularly since 1996 and tours often in Germany and the United States. He has played all the major jazz\, blues\, and folk festivals across Canada. \nBorn in Havana\, Cuba\, del Junco (loosely translated “of the reeds”) immigrated with his family at the age of one. He bent his first note on a harmonica when he was fourteen\, making his debut with his high school math teacher at a student talent night. \nPlaying a ten hole diatonic harmonica\, Carlos has developed the unique ability to play chromatically by using a recently developed “overblow” technique taught to him by jazz virtuoso Howard Levy. Overall\, this approach to the diatonic harmonica\, although much more difficult to achieve\, is in many ways more expressive and communicative than the mechanized tone produced by the chromatic harmonica. Carlos is one of the few pioneers of this overblow method\, bringing musical credibility to what has still been considered by many in the music industry – a fringe folk instrument. The sophisticated sound produced by del Junco is at once sensitive\, soulful\, and sexy while never forgetting the rawness inherent in blues music. \nTickets are by donation – Suggested Donation $20
