DESCRIPTION:One of the great joys of Christmas is the music … one of the great joys of this Christmas is the opportunity to experience that music through the genius of Quartette! Whether it’s traditional favourites like “Silent Night” and “What Child Is This?” or Quartette originals such as “The Perfect Christmas Tree” and “Hope\, Peace\, Joy and Love”\, Canadian singer/songwriters Cindy Church\, Caitlin Hanford\, Gwen Swick and Sylvia Tyson enchant with their singularly lush harmonies\, unique arrangements and rich variety of musical influences. \nThe genesis of Quartette was happenstance … a “songwriter in the round” showcase of Canadian women songwriters hosted by Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre in 1993. What began as a concert of musical friends grew into an inspired collaboration\, generating public and critical acclaim\, and catching the ear of Peter Gzowski\, who invited them to perform on his CBC Radio show Morningside. Later Gzowski would say of that performance: “The CBC switchboard lit up like a Christmas tree with people looking for a recording!” Seven months later they released their self-titled album. Fact: A recording of The AC/DC Show–CANADA’s performance from February\,\n2016 was personally taken back to Los Angeles by a member of AC/DC’s management in Early March of 2016 when Brian Johnson was diagnosed with severe hearing damage. This recording with Shamus is believed to have been the only Canadian entry that was considered in the search for their new singer. Axl Rose of Guns and Roses was eventually chosen for the role. \nGino Del Sole as the Angus Young lead guitarist. Fact: Sudbury native and Humber College Graduate Gino Del Sole has emerged as a top candidate in starring guitar roles with Norwegian Breakaways ‘Rock of Ages’ and the Mirvisch production of ‘Kinky Boots’. Gino’s attention to minute details is evident in his role as musical director of the show. \nThe incredibly challenging role of the rhythm section is performed and carried by:\nSteve MacPherson as the Malcolm Young rhythm guitarist.\nDoug Adams as the Cliff Williams bass guitarist.\nSal Cavelli as the Phil Rudd beat-keeper on the drums.

DESCRIPTION:Liona Boyd\, since her 1975 debut performance at Carnegie Hall\, New York\, has enthralled audiences worldwide with her romantic and unique brand of classical\, folk and world music. Tracing the timeline—Spanish-British heritage\, emigrating to Canada in 1959\, “falling in love with classical guitar at the age of 13”\, graduating from the University of Toronto with a music degree in 1972—the traditional classical music path seemed quite clear. However\, Liona embarked on a far more adventurous journey. In addition to her solo career\, she began touring with and opening for Canadian folk legend\, Gordon Lightfoot. She went on to perform and record with many artists of diverse genres\, a small sampling of whom include Chet Atkins\, Canadian Brass\, Eric Clapton\, Olivia Newton-John\, Yo Yo Ma and Al Di Meola. Also spanning a wide range of styles\, Liona has released 28 studio\, live or compilation albums\, five of which went gold\, and three platinum. No stranger to awards and accolades\, her highlights include five Junos\, the Order of Canada\, five honorary doctorates and\, in June 2018\, the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from the JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition.  \nFollowing her 2009 diagnosis of focal dystonia\, Liona tweaked her playing style\, added singing to her repertoire and two years ago began touring with protege\, Andrew Dolson\, classically trained in both guitar and voice.
