SUMMARY:Okan
DESCRIPTION:Afro-Cuban roots with jazz\, folk and global rhythms. 2021 JUNO Award winner!\nTaking their name from the word for heart in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria\, the women-led ensemble OKAN fuses Afro-Cuban roots with jazz\, folk and global rhythms in songs about immigration\, courage and love. \nHaving recently worked with Bomba Estereo\, Lido Pimienta and Dayme Arocena\, OKAN recently followed up on their Juno-nominated and Independent Music Award-winning debut album Sombras\, with their sophomore release Espiral. This album recently won a 2021 JUNO for World Music Album. \nEspiral delves deeper into the group’s rich Cuban roots\, finding renewed inspiration in this rich musical heritage. The Santeria influences are most evident in the title track\, Espiral which uniquely blends guajira\, the folk genre of Eastern Cuba\, with Santeria-derived chants.  \nBorn in Havana\, Cuba\, Elizabeth Rodriguez is a classically trained violinist who served as concertmaster for Havana’s Youth Orchestra. Magdelys Savigne hails from Santiago de Cuba and graduated with honours in orchestral percussion from Havana’s University of the Arts. Both are also Grammy-nominees for their contributions to Jane Bunnett and Maqueque\, of which they are former members. \n\nThe Summer Season concerts will take place under the open air covered pavilion at the Huntsville Fairgrounds. These are in-person socially distanced shows with a maximum audience capacity of 100. Concerts will follow guidance and regulations set out by the Simcoe/Muskoka District Health Unit.

SUMMARY:Play\, Pie & a Pint Online
DESCRIPTION:Join us online for a night of theatre\, food and fun from the comfort of your own home! Due to COVID\, this year we’re doing things differently. To take part in this super popular event\, all you need to do is follow 3 easy steps. \nSTEP #1: PURCHASE YOUR TICKET ONLINE HERE\nThe full price ticket includes a wood fired pizza & small salad from the Mill On Main Restaurant and a link to the online performances which will be broadcast over Zoom on January 30th. Tickets can also be purchased for the performances only. \nSTEP #2: ORDER YOUR PIZZA FOR PICK UP\nCall 705-788-5150 to order your pizza. The full price ticket gets you a choice of either “THE CLASSIC” (Homemade tomato sauce\, fresh mozzarella\, and spicy salami) or “THE VEGGIE” (Basil-pesto oil\, caramelized onion\, tomato\, roasted garlic\, and arugula\, with a drizzle of balsamic) along with a small salad. When you order\, you’ll be asked to pick a date to pick up the food (either January 29 or 30 between noon-4pm). Your pizza will be half-baked in the Mill’s famous Wood Oven to give it that delicious smoky taste. You pick it up\, bring it home\, and put it in the oven for 20 minutes. Want more food or drink? Of course you can order from the Mill’s menu and pay the restaurant directly. You can see the Mill’s full menu HERE. \nSTEP #3: CHOOSE YOUR VIRTUAL TABLE\nThrough the use of ZOOM’s break out room feature\, you can create your own private space to eat and visit with friends. Think of it like being at a table in a restaurant with your friends. You prepare your food & drink at home\, then join the zoom call at 6pm where you can join your friends at a Virtual Table to eat and visit together.
