SUMMARY:Blackie and the Rodeo Kings
DESCRIPTION:Canadian Music Legends Blackie and the Rodeo Kings mark their 25th anniversary with a special tour in support of their new album King of this Town. Originally Colin Linden\, Stephen Fearing and Tom Wilson came together to record what was suppose to be a one- off tribute album to the great Canadian songwriter Willie P. Bennett. At the time\, all three members were deeply committed to burgeoning solo careers that they had no intentions of putting on hold\, and had no plans to turn Blackie into an ongoing concern. Now twenty five years later\, 9 albums \, one Juno award and several Juno nominations under their belts\, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings have organically evolved into one of the finest roots-oriented bands in North America. Added Bonus! Each ticket includes a digital download of their newest album King of this Town.

SUMMARY:A Christmas Carol
DESCRIPTION:Huntsville Festival of the Arts Presents A Christmas Carol! \nJoin us for this hilarious family friendly production of the holiday classic presented by Dufflebag Theatre. Penny-pinching miser Ebenezer Scrooge is well-known across Victorian London for being far more interested in making money than friends. Above all else\, he hates Christmas time and its spirit of giving. But on one particular Christmas Eve\, several spirits give Ebenezer the surprise of his life\, as they whisk him off on a magical journey through past\, present and future\, to show him the true meaning of the season. From Fezziwig to Tiny Tim\, all the favorites are included in DuffleBag Theatre’s exuberant version of the Charles Dickens Yuletide classic.

SUMMARY:Colin James
DESCRIPTION:His new album 2019 Juno Award winning Miles to Go\, in which James records nine new covers of his favourite artists (Howlin’ Wolf\, Muddy Waters\, Blind Willie Johnson\, Blind Lemon Jefferson\, Little Willie John\, Robert Johnson\, etc.) and adds two originals\, “I Will Remain” and “40 Light Years.” “Blues has always been a pass-it-forward kind of thing\,” says James. “It’s also surprisingly hard to write. You have to be careful how modern you get in your phrasing. Certain writers can write a song that sounds like it was done 40 years ago\, but it’s deceptively hard.” To be a blues musician is to always have a dialogue with the past.  As with much blues music\, it’s the performances on the original versions rather than the actual song that drew James to them.

SUMMARY:Royal Wood
DESCRIPTION:JUNO-nominated artist Royal Wood performs songs from his deeply personal eighth studio album Ever After the Farewell\, released in 2018. \nLife has a way of knocking on our door on the days we least expect it. For singer songwriter Royal Wood\, life knocked pretty damn hard. For in the same year that he lost his father to illness\, he also fell in love and got married. As an artist\, Royal channeled these polar opposite emotions into his new album Ever After The Farewell. Recorded in London\, UK\, with Jamie Scott (known for his work with renowned artists like Rag’n Bone Man\, Michael Kiwanuka\, Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran)\, Royal’s album is not only deeply inspired by both loss and love\, but is an ode to the classic styles of both Tin Pan Alley and Laurel Canyon. To capture the rawest possible sound\, most of the songs on the album were recorded the day they were written\, with Royal playing the majority of the instruments.

SUMMARY:Jeremy Dutcher
DESCRIPTION:Winner of the 2018 Polaris Prize\, and a 2019 Juno for his album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa\, this incredible artist makes his first appearance on the Festival Stage. \nA Wolastoqiyik member of the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick\, Dutcher studied music and anthropology at Dalhousie University. He recorded Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa\, following a research project on old archival recordings of traditional Maliseet songs at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. He painstakingly transcribed Wolastoq songs from 1907 wax cylinders. As he listened to each recording\, he felt his own musical impulses stirring from deep within. Long days at the archives turned into long nights at the piano\, feeling out melodies and phrases\, deep in dialogue with the voices of his ancestors.
