SUMMARY:Royal Wood
DESCRIPTION:JUNO-nominated artist Royal Wood performs songs from his deeply personal eighth studio album Ever After the Farewell\, released in 2018. \nLife has a way of knocking on our door on the days we least expect it. For singer songwriter Royal Wood\, life knocked pretty damn hard. For in the same year that he lost his father to illness\, he also fell in love and got married. As an artist\, Royal channeled these polar opposite emotions into his new album Ever After The Farewell. Recorded in London\, UK\, with Jamie Scott (known for his work with renowned artists like Rag’n Bone Man\, Michael Kiwanuka\, Niall Horan and Ed Sheeran)\, Royal’s album is not only deeply inspired by both loss and love\, but is an ode to the classic styles of both Tin Pan Alley and Laurel Canyon. To capture the rawest possible sound\, most of the songs on the album were recorded the day they were written\, with Royal playing the majority of the instruments.

SUMMARY:Jeremy Dutcher
DESCRIPTION:Winner of the 2018 Polaris Prize\, and a 2019 Juno for his album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa\, this incredible artist makes his first appearance on the Festival Stage. \nA Wolastoqiyik member of the Tobique First Nation in New Brunswick\, Dutcher studied music and anthropology at Dalhousie University. He recorded Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa\, following a research project on old archival recordings of traditional Maliseet songs at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. He painstakingly transcribed Wolastoq songs from 1907 wax cylinders. As he listened to each recording\, he felt his own musical impulses stirring from deep within. Long days at the archives turned into long nights at the piano\, feeling out melodies and phrases\, deep in dialogue with the voices of his ancestors.

SUMMARY:Jill Barber
DESCRIPTION:Jill Barber has become renowned for writing songs that evoke feelings of a bygone era. She is one of Canada’s brightest stars – selling out theatres coast to coast and headlining the country’s most prestigious festivals. Her albums have sold over 100\,000 copies and counts among her fans: Josh Ritter\, Kathleen Edwards\, Kris Kristofferson (who hails Jill as a “real songwriter\, a damn good songwriter”) and collaborator Ron Sexsmith. Through her music she confidently tackles everything from issues of empowerment\, sexual politics\, the complications of love\, and depression. It’s introspective and personal. It’s also a dance party. To hear her voice is to hear the evocative voice of an artist who has drawn inspiration from a cross-section of musical genres. Regardless of Jill’s influences\, the one thing you are always assured of is that you know a Jill Barber song when you hear it\, and chances are\, you’ll never forget it…

SUMMARY:Nuit Blanche North
DESCRIPTION:For one night only\, the streets will come alive with an exciting program of free contemporary artistic activities\, events and exhibits taking place in unconventional places in and around Huntsville’s downtown core! \nNuit Blanche North is a free late-night art event where cutting-edge artists light up downtown Huntsville with radical art exhibits and eccentric performances. \nInspired by the Nuit Blanche event started in Paris France in 2002\, we invite visitors to stay up late and experience truly unique works of art in public spaces.  The fun begins at sunset and continues into the wee hours of the morning.  Visitors can wander through the streets of Huntsville to discover surprising works of art in unexpected places. From street theatre\, to music\, to sculpture\, to film\, and interactive exhibits\, there is something for everyone\, and many ways to join in the fun.  Come explore\, discover\, debate\, create and participate.  No experience necessary\, just a desire to stay up late and play! \nNuit Blanche North is presented in partnership by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts and Edge of the Woods Theatre.  The goal of the event is to present fun\, engaging and accessible works of art\, and to support the local economy by bringing visitors downtown\, and providing opportunities for local artists to create and present their work.
