DESCRIPTION:The ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 will challenge you to circumnavigate Huntsville’s 110km four-lake system in the fastest possible time! With only one portage intersection\, this course is all about digging deep through a mixture of open lakes and flat- water rivers. As you would expect from River X\, your adventure will continue well past sunset; adding the technical element of night time navigation and orientation. \nTEAM CHAMPS: ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 introduces a team-based ultra-marathon race whereby each TEAM CHAMPS entry consists of two (2) individual teams (A & B). Each A and B team can register\, compete and be eligible for results and awards in any watercraft category. Together\, A and B team results are combined towards the overall TEAM CHAMPS award. Those paddlers who wish to go it alone still remain eligible for results and awards within their respective categories. \nPURSUIT START: ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 introduces a Pursuit Start for the first time on the water. Adopted from the Nordic sports\, the start times are staggered for each category based on the anticipated average pace used to calculate the TEAM CHAMPS benchmarks. The result will be a fast-paced challenge to either stay at the front of the pack OR chase down the leaders. The Pursuit promises an action- packed finish line as the gaps between the teams close and the competition heats up to see who will be crowned First To The Finish! \nLocated just a few hours north of Toronto\, Ontario\, Huntsville is home to a premiere Paddle- Sport Stadium\, naturally suited to host ultra-marathon events. With a 4-lake system connected by a mixture of rivers and canals\, Huntsville offers a full menu of conditions for the flat-water paddle sport racer and is the quintessential Canadian paddling destination. For the ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110\, you will experience all of what Fairy Lake\, Lake Vernon\, Mary Lake\, and Pen Lake have to offer including the Muskoka River and the Big East River. Teams will follow a predetermined route to achieve various Checkpoints and Waypoints before returning to the Start/Finish at Hidden Valley Resort.

SUMMARY:Muskoka River X Classic
DESCRIPTION:The world’s longest single day expedition paddling race is back for its seventh year with a twist. Teams will paddle the same 133km route\, but in the reverse direction. Starting in Penninsula Lake\, teams paddle the North branch of the Muskoka River through Port Sydney to Bracebridge. Then they paddle upstream on the South branch of the Muskoka River to Baysville\, finishing they race on Penninsula lake. Teams paddle two rivers systems\, three lakes and 20 portages for a total of 133km in less than 24 hours. The Classic is completely self-supported. That’s right\, no outside assistance\, no support teams and no re-supplies. Considered the toughest single day canoe race in the world\, the MRX Classic is not your traditional marathon-paddling event.   Challenge your self. SUMMARY:Muskoka River X Coureur des Bois
DESCRIPTION:The Coureur des Bois is back! The River X Crew first hosted this expansion course to the Muskoka River X Classic in 2015 and 2016.  After a 2-year absence and at the request of our Alumni we will again host this epic race. Building on the heritage of the canal expeditions of the 1800’s\, the Coureur des Bois will challenge even the most experienced expedition and marathon paddlers. Teams travel along the heritage routes of the Algonquin Peoples and early explorers as they traverse Algonquin Park east to west from Whitney to Oxtongue Lake. Using only the supplies that were carried teams will overnight in a wilderness camping setting at Oxtongue before merging with the Muskoka River X Classic B-Side for a second full day of paddle racing. 223km. 39 portages. 48 hours or less. No resupplies. No support. Navigation with only map and compass. Flat-water. Up-river. Down-river. Marshlands and swamp. A true Canadian back-country expedition race. SUMMARY:Muskoka River X - The Ox Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Paddle the beautiful and quiet waters of Oxtongue Lake and Oxtongue River. Enjoy two full days of racing. On day one\, go head-to-head within a high intensity short course format in which pairs of teams face off against each other. On day two\, race a 10km sprint\, 30km tri-paddle or 40km marathon event. During the evening\, relax and enjoy family and friends at a BBQ Feast. There are categories and options for everyone. \nLocated on the edge of Oxtongue Provincial Park and just east of Algonquin Provincial Park\, Oxtongue Lake and River is the perfect location for water sport racing. With protected and quiet waters and spectacular scenery\, THE OX offers a spectator-friendly short course stadium and 10km marathon loop. The site is well serviced with accommodations\, basic provisions and is hosted at Algonquin Outfitters’ premier backcountry base-camp. Oxtongue Lake is the quintessential Canadian paddling destination. \n\nBattle of the Paddle\nSaturday June 15\, 2019 \nEnjoy head-to-head\, high intensity short course racing in which pairs of teams face off against each other in a double-elimination format. Each team races at least twice per event. First round pairs are randomly drawn. Race One is for seeding. Race Two starts the elimination. Teams keep progressing to the next round as long as they keep winning. The last winning team is the winner. Canoe classes are a “ONE DESIGN” event\, meaning all teams will paddle a standardized watercraft provided by race management. Participate in as many events as you are eligible. Awards will be presented at Algonquin Outfitters THE OX banquet on Saturday evening. \n\nSprint\, Tri-Paddle and Marathon\nSunday June 16\, 2019 \nSprint and Marathon racing in which teams paddle a 10km loop on Oxtongue Lake and the Oxtongue River. Teams complete as many loops as necessary to reach the total distance in each event. Teams may resupply nutrition/hydration/supplies at the designated “feeding station” upon the completion of each loop\, located at the start-finish line. Support teams are encouraged!
