About
Founded in 1983, the Alzheimer Society of Muskoka is a registered charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living in Muskoka and Parry Sound with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias by:
- Providing care, support, information and education for people affected by dementia
- Increasing awareness of dementia and its impact on the whole community
- Advocating for improved health care services and qualified health care workers
- Supporting research to find a cure
Whether you are concerned about your memory, currently have a diagnosis, are a health care professional or are a member/business of the community looking for more information on how to support reducing the stigma of a dementia diagnosis, we have the resources to assist you. Our highly trained staff can help with a variety of topics such as
- managing stress resulting from the disease
- coping strategies
- planning for the future
- managing symptoms
- accessing other community services
- skills and knowledge necessary to support a person living with dementia
- recreational opportunities to live well with dementia
